![]() The scanner would produce better quality than what I could print, but I found the software hard work and a lot of post processing was also needed. Just after getting the printers I also acquired a 3D scanner. The same above oil barrel after subjected to acetone. This melted the surface of the object and produced a smooth finish, but also took away any small details and sharp lines. Printing in ABS it was possible to remove the layer lines by subjecting the object to acetone vapour. Although I did make some parts for a 1/8 scale model which worked out great but in the end only use the printers for everyday objects, not been many but really useful.Īn oil barrel in 1/14 scale, showing the layer lines. I did purchase a couple of FDM printers back in 2017/2018 with a view in producing parts for models, but the quality was never really good enough.
